Stewart and Joie Lenz have created a potential supercouple in Danny and Michelle.
... Guiding Light, a bomb threatened the Santoses at Ray's First Mass ... had a small increase.
Lenz's chemistry with Paul Anthony Stewart (Danny) has played a big part in the success of the mob storyline.
A Preview of What the Soaps Have on the Grill ... Guiding Light: Danny and Michelle are going to be involved with Josh and Reva," [headwriter Barbara] Esenstein [says]. "The Santos family has a vacation home in San Cristobel. So it becomes kind of an umbrella story, and Danny and Michelle are going to have a wedding of their own, just the two of them -- a very sweet wedding -- and actually are allowed to be together."
[Paulo Benedeti (Jesse) said ...] "I get a lot of feedback that the fans like Danny and Michelle together."
Spring is Finally Here -- Postcards, Postmark: The Spring Fashion Closet ...
"Who is that guy who's always wearing black leather and is always practically strangling that girl who plays his wife?" asked mon beau, Moose, who watches Guiding Light over my shoulder most mornings. (To see the babes, I suspect.)
I told Moose the character who can hardly keep his hands off Michelle's neck or face is mob son Danny Santos. And the reason Danny is usually wearing black leather is to make the tender, sensitive actor Paul Anthony Stewart (don't we just adore him?) look tough.
I was watching my taped soaps the other night when Guiding Light's Danny picked up his recent bride, Michelle, and carried her, Rhett Butler-style, to the bed to make love to her. Although the act wasn't consummated, that's way beside the point. The point is that in soaps men routinely sweep women up into their arms and schlepp them (quite literally sometimes; I've seen a few soap actors actually staggger to the bed and drop their leading ladies onto the mattress below!) to the bed for a hot love scene. It's a grand, romantic gesture that is one of soaps' more amusing and forgivable conventions. Forgivable if you've been around and are cognizant of the fact that you are as likely to be carried to bed by a lover as you are to be abducted by aliens.
[My Note: This is hogwash. I know several women, myself included, who have been swept up into the arms of their guy. It is not an uncommon practice by a long shot. Danny was being very romantic, yes, but also it was pretty realistic, too.]
