Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Santos The Rustle of the Sheets . . .
Soap Opera Digest Tidbits

  • August 3, 1999 -- "Guiding Light Trips Out"

In this day of smaller budgets and in-studio locations, how did Guiding Light finagle a trip to Puerto Rico for 11 of its actors (not to mention execs and crew)? "We came up with a very good story, the network liked it and we're getting to do it," responds Executive Producer Paul Rauch.

While the main focus is on Reva and her "missing years," Danny and Michelle are also heavily involved in the San Cristobel saga, which plays into September. "Aren't they great?" praises Rauch, who insists that the couple was no written into the story because they are currently GL's hottest couple. "There are a few surprises coming in that story, too," he winks.

  • July 6, 1999 -- "Ratings Race: Week of June 7"

Guiding Light rebounded from last week's low as Danny and Michelle planned to remarry.

  • June 8, 1999 -- "The Write Stuff ... Daytime Scribe tell (Almost) All!"

Which characters are the easiest to write for?

Guiding Light Head Writer Barbara Esensten [responds] "right now, Buzz and Selena, and Danny and Michelle are the easiest because there is so much emotion behind their storylines."

  • May 4, 1999 -- Sing Along

Monica sings "Angel of Mine." It's available on her CD, The Boy is Mine. It was also heard recently on Guiding Light, when Michelle and Danny danced at Millenium.

  • April 20, 1999 -- Storyline Feedback ... Joie Lenz

Are Michelle's feelings for Danny going to get in the way of a reunion with Jesse?

"Definitely. I think she is trying to bring something back with Jesse, but she's going to realize that it's not there."

  • April 20, 1999 -- Editor's Note

One thing that came to light is the fact that not all stories are written for me. For example, as much as I love, love, love the actors playing Danny and Michelle on Guiding Light -- not to mention marvelous mob mama Carmen -- their full-throttle story takes time away from all the other characters I want to see on GL. But it seems that since showcasing its teen story, GL has inched up impressively in demographics, attracting more of the younger viewers soaps need today to stay in business. And anything that keeps GL in business is okay with me.
