And don't get me wrong I do like seeing Michelle and Danny happy. But there can be happiness with depth and then there can be a blanket happiness in which nothing really new is brought up and the same lines get repeated over and over again. Unfortunately, in my opinion that Manny has taken the later direction. Yes, the scenes are short, but what makes them even shorter is the fact that they are the same recycled scenes. It used to be that the Michelle/Danny storyline was so unpredictable that even if you camped out on a spoiler page you still had no idea what to expect next or if you did you had no idea that it would be that good!
But now we know exactly what to expect. I turned on my TV today fully expecting those all too brief Manny scenes, with a little smooching and Danny and Michelle's conversation to center on sexual innuendo. And low and behold that is what we got. What happened to the depth of the early Manny days? Those layers that Melissa and Kristie once commented on?
I'm sorry but Paul Anthony Stewart is too talented to turn into the mere eye candy every other good looking guy on daytime is. I like the scenary. I like the wardrobe changes. But they could make all of Manny's scene in a dungeon and dress Stewart in all black until the cows come in, as long as he stayed Danny and the story had the same depth, I'd be happy. But this whitewash is just not cutting it.
I hope, I sincerely hope that the writers get back to what worked with Manny. Check that ... I hope that they already have and we will be seeing it in a few weeks. Because as of right now it seems to me Manny's only purpose is to keep the famous Mannyacs still watching. And I don't know if the writers think it's Stewart's looks that keep us coming back or what? Hopefully the future of Manny will be a lot better than the present tense (from a viewer stand point).
