"Down the Aisle & Up the Creek" -- 2/2/99

Marriage is certainly no bed or roses, but it seems like these newlyweds have gotten more than their fair share of thorns since saying "We do." At the root of the withering flower sits a small lie, a major indiscretion or ... well, the occasional murder cover-up. Unfortunate incidents all -- but possibly reparable onces. Take a turn as counseler, mull over these unions, then try to answer the question these confounded couples are asking themselves: Can this marriage be saved?

Married to the Mob

Guiding Light -- A Rock-Solid Foundation

The couple: Amateur murderess Michelle Bauer and baby-faced mobster Danny Santos.

The problem: To quote the old Hart to Hart theme, when these two met, it was murder! Michelle thought that she had bludgeoned Danny's bad-seed brother to death with a rock. Enter Danny himself, charged with the unpleasant task of bumping of the endearing ingenue as revenge. What's a reluctant assassin to do? In Danny's case, he married his would-be victim, knowing that his kinfolk wouldn't order him to fit his own wife with cement shoes.

Now that Michelle has chosen "til death do they part"
with Danny, can they possibly achieve happily ever after?

The potential: In the end, what difference does it make whether the couple met over drinks at a bar or a corpse? There's no telling what will happen with this major mismatch, what with opposites attracting and all that. Plus, if Drew, Michelle's rival for the affections of True Jesse Blue, starts humming, "The Boy is Mine," Michelle might start to see there is actually something convenient about her shotgun marriage to the mob.
