Let's take Drew and Jesse (fear not, this will be brief) -- it's fairly obvious that Jesse catching her in bed with another man has awakened his more-than-friendly feelings for her (whatever works for TWV). He is seeing her in a new light and waking up to the fact that she just may be the girl for him. So, this works for Jesse and Drew ... Now, Manny-acs are wondering, why did it have to be Danny and not some Joe Schmoe off the street? Well, this is where the relationship of Drew and Michelle comes in.
How many of you have complained about the Michelle/Drew friendship not really striking the right chord? Quite a few, and I assume that TPTB have been aware of the less-than-contented fanbase towards this friendship. Because of the Mick situation, Drew and Michelle (by nature of circumstance) were thrown together, and they formed an uneasy alliance out of neccessity (more than anything else.)
So, what does a one-night stand do for that frienship? Obviously, Drew does not consider Michelle a real friend (note her comments -- "once again, you get what you want," and oh, sleeping with her husband), and Michelle seems to be reaching out to Drew because she is the only person she can talk to about the whole situation. Now that that is no longer the case (since Meta and others know the story), Michelle doesn't have to maintain this closeness with Drew. Still, she is not the type of person who will just 'dump' a friend -- no matter how lousy that friend may be -- so what do the writers do? Giver her a valid reason for doing so.
Although, Michelle will be understandably upset by Danny's actions, I think (and believe she should) blame Drew a lot more. Danny was under the impression that Michelle didn't give a fig newton about him. He also believed that not only was their marriage over, but that there had never been a marriage to begin with. On top of that, Michelle had just betrayed Danny in a much more severe way. When she told him about her contact with the FBI, she basically laid it all out on the line and hoped that he would try to understand her actions and forgive her. Now should be the time for the switching of roles if (and I am hoping this is how the story plays out) Danny is the one to tell her about what happened with Drew. Michelle should try and understand his actions and forgive him, despite her hurt. Then we come full circle with these two.
As for Drew ... Drew not only knew that Michelle had feelings for Danny, she was the one person who was constantly pushing Michelle to admit to those feelings. Drew was selfish and self-absorbed to sleep with Danny, period. There really is no other way to look at it. She can try and justify it any way she wants, but she knows (and Michelle knows) that false justifications are all they are.
Drew "needed" sexual companionship, she "needed to be held." Fine. Why Michelle's husband? Because she was hurting and Michelle for so long had been the center of her discontent -- the barrier that kept her from getting what she wanted, so intentionally or not, this was Drew's chance to get Michelle and get her good. Again, selfish, self-absorbed and let's add shallow.
So, the Danny/Drew connection puts Drew and Jesse together and separates Drew and Michelle and also (for some viewers -- at last) Drew will hopefully get her comeuppance ... a nice, nasty tongue-lashing from a very proper and righteous Michelle Bauer Santos. And of course, this will hasten Drew and Jesse out of the sphere of the Manny storyline, which makes room for Pilar and possibly, and I do like this scenario, Bill (although, this does conceivably establish the dreaded Cassie connection).
One more point, if all of this was done to get Drew (and Jesse) out of Danny and Michelle's way, why have Ben work for Carmen, further integrating Drew into the Manny storyline? Simply put, because, at this point, Drew is still a part of their story and honestly, how else would Ben get into her orbit otherwise? Once this is done, I do believe that we will see Manny moving further away from Carmen, thus Ben and thus Drew. Of course, Carmen will continue to be a thorn in Danny and Michelle's side and Drew, an irritant -- but no more than a pesky fly that needs to be swatted away from time to time.
Then again, I could be totally wrong about all of this, but I think it's a nice theory and one that makes everybody happy ... especially Manny-acs. Oh, and this way, the pregnancy possibility never has to rear its head.
