Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Santos The Rustle of the Sheets . . .

"Superficial Thoughts"
(The July 29th episode - In the Bridal Suite after Danny's Return from San Cristobel)

By Tracee

These burning ponderings refuse to leave my mind, at this hour, and I find they're much more important than anything coherent I might have to say about Thursday ...

  • Okay, so la cama in Casa Santos has, like, eight pillows on it (no joke), and this dwindles down to four by the time Manny is laying dressed, and dwindles to two, by the time they're done with the deed. My question ... just what in the heck did they need all the extra space for, all the way up there near the headboard, that required disposing of two more pillows? Why do I have pictures of headboard sex in my head now?

  • Speaking of the headboard, should have left the pillow there, Michelle/Joie wouldn't have cracked her head on the thing if they had!

  • Are Michelle's fingers, like wishbones or something? 'Cause Danny can't seem to keep them out of his mouth. Like kiss a pinky, and make a wish?

  • Why do they put Michelle in these dangling earrings during these tight closeups of Danny working the neck area? Poor Paul Anthony Stewart always seems to be maneuvering around them. One of these days he's going to poke himself or swallow one ....

  • I always have a coffee/tea setup in my bedroom, yourself?

  • Okay, your husband just tells you, that he's been lied to and deceived by old pals, and once again by the woman who claims to want to be making a truce with you ... you a) listen intently and offer your sympathy b) listen for a few minutes and let him decide the next course of action or c) listen for thirty seconds and then block out all auditory sounds, except for the sound of the blood rushing to your ears and your pulse pounding? Blase much, Michelle?

  • Did Danny dump his pants on the floor like he did the first night in the bedroom. This cracks me up everytime. Take pants off, throw them on the floor, in that beautiful bedroom ... OY!

  • Please tell me that Manny has more than that one little dinky dresser, to share between them. I often wonder what exactly is on the other side of that room, other than the now obvious window. Is there a TV there where they can fight over that remote?

  • Speaking of that window, I find it VERY encouraging that Guiding Light went to all the trouble to light Manny the way they did. Almost as if there was a glow surrounding them. I've noticed GL takes a lot of great pains to light Manny a certain way, ie. the scene in Millenium when Danny was standing behind the curtain, talking to his grandmother on the cellphone, with the vertical shadows, like a prison, the scene when they both blow out the candles in the bedroom (coincidentally, am I anal enough to notice they both have trouble with the same number of candles, why yes I am) or even in this scene, there was a very slight, cross shadow, like it was something sacred.

  • As someone who did sound/lighting for a living, for a while in college, I know what a pain in the posterior it is to get a decent lighting scheme going, and how long the process can be, and this isn't even for anything particularly special. So seeing the effort put into lighting Manny, with these shadows and particular gels and positioning, is a sign to me from TPTB, that in a way they are trying to feature them, figuratively speaking, in the best light possible. It's a painstaking process, and though you shouldn't notice the lighting (should be as natural as possible), it's obvious when it's a little something special, as this lighting was. Especially considering it was coming from the imaginary fourth wall, what a headache to put that together. Tells me these scenes were lavishly detailed on purpose. For scenes that were basically about a happy couple to go to such trouble is a very good sign, indeed.

  • Okay, they're all alone in the house, because Grandma is off deep sea diving again? Boy, look at what one wedding does for that woman's health! Imagine a grandkid, she may have to take up swing dancing, then.

  • How sexy did I find that little finger to the mouth "I'll keep it a secret" maneuver of Danny's! Whew, I think he just discovered one of my own secrets!

  • I found Michelle's questioning about what Danny would do if he were in Josh's situation to be a little ... strange. Does she get some kind of thrill over hearing he'd be panic stricken? I didn't understand what she was trying to accomplish by asking to begin with, but especially in such a curiously nosey manner. Was she trying to understand his perspective on where Josh was at, or what?

  • Did Josh hear any of that moaning when Danny picked up the phone!?

  • I officially eliminate condoms as a birth control device between Manny, because I didn't see anyone reaching over for one during the attempted second go round, and they didn't look to be stopping anytime soon.

  • It's the middle of summer, you're all alone in an empty house, doing nothing, why, why, why ... would you sit around in a skirt and heels!? I would just really love to see Danny come home one day to Michelle in a robe, or Michelle in jeans, anything really. Nothing would be even better. :-)

  • So, have they actually seen Austin Powers together? Manny that is ...

  • Did they shower before heading over to the Lewis' and to save time did they do it together?

  • That bouquet with those butt ugly blue flowers totally did not fit the color scheme of that bedroom!

  • How did Danny fit those clothes and his papers in that little carry on lunch sack thing he had?

  • I like that Manny seems to have their assigned "sides" of the bed, how very couple-ish, of them!

  • Other things I'd like to see ... a morning conversation in the bedroom, as Manny is getting ready for the day, you know walking around one another, as they get dressed, love that normal couple stuff, the fight over the remote (instead of just hearing about it). I'd like to see Danny come home to Michelle asleep, just once in my life, and him crawl into bed next to her.

I'd like to see Michelle give Danny a massage, since he's always first with the hands. I'd like to see either Pilar or Carmen come rushing into Manny's room in the morning and wake them out of their sleep, cuddled next to each other, I like cuddling, can't help it, and boy did I love it in this episode ... I'd like to see Michelle stressed about school and Danny trying to ease her out of her worries and maybe out of her skirt at the same time. Oh, and a love scene would be nice too ...
