Essay #188
"That Diner Stare was IT"

By Liz M

When I saw that moment as I was watching real-time way back when, I was blown-away big time! First of all, I couldn't believe what I was seeing -- the actor (whose name I didn't even know back then) staring towards Michelle and totally IGNORING the actor who was standing next to him delivering his lines (Paolo Benedetti).

I felt then that this was the actor's doing since I couldn't imagine a director being THAT dismissive of another actor in a scene. It wasn't that Danny/Paul Anthony Stewart just *ignored* Jesse -- he absolutely removed himself from the conversation, moving several feet away and staring at the guy's girl!

Whenever I am asked about the moment that reeled me in, I say it was the Diner Kiss, but I always always add this moment and THAT stare as the instant when I knew I was watching something truly special.
