Now, as I was reading her post, I began thinking about what it is that TPTB and writers have been doing with Manny lately. I loved Beth's analogy of Manny's quiet stillness/happiness to an eye of the storm. There is something so accurate in that metaphor to me. Everything about Manny has been calm. I guess I would venture into too calm that none of us are remotely use to it. I've been wondering if maybe during Manny's stillness that tptb don't want the drama to play out just quite yet for one reason or another. It could be because of Jeva or because this is another stage for Manny before they take center stage. Again, it's possible. Manny's happiness has been trouble free (with the exception of Josh and Reva's stuff) and the intensity or the threats of the happiness in the form of that other side of the storm haven't come yet.
TPTB have recently made everything about Manny on such a calm, quiet level during this eye of the storm, that it's making us wonder why so quiet. Manny have faced some things that they conquered and still must conquer that could definitely be brought up during their honeymoon, like, each of them remembering moments when Michelle was defiant of Danny or Danny pushing Michelle away for her own good. Sure, it's all in the past, and during those pasttimes they discussed it. Hence, for them they've moved beyond it. As a matter of fact, right now, both of them want to live in the present and dream of or rather fixate on their future of being together. There hasn't been much deep discussion for Manny during their happy period, because the stormy winds aren't shaking them and knocking them down. I wouldn't go so far to say that Danny and Michelle are in denial, but their words of certainty in a world of total quiet vs. total chaos can come across as unreal on some level.
Now, I'm not saying that Manny's feelings aren't real, because without a doubt they are. But, their life together with that other side of the storm hasn't happened yet. It's when that storm comes that Danny and Michelle will realize just how much their love is real. (Is this couple doomed in the long run?? Only time will tell. But, with the depths of their feelings for each other, there is no greater force than the two of them, esp. if fate is on their side. I'm rooting for them, and in my heart of hearts, they will survive no matter how many storms come.) When the other side of the storm attacks, Danny and Michelle will have a lot to endure again. More than likely, it will bring up their past issues of what they are not looking at now or discussing now. Life does tend to work that way. It's not until that next storm comes, that you remember or rather deal with the previous storm on top of the present one. Both Danny and Michelle love each other more than they even know yet (despite their attests to it and their beautiful "I love yous.")
But, they both are also very intelligent and savvy characters, who have very good memories. Neither has forgotten what each of them had gone through with the other one or FOR the other one to get to where they are now. Danny hasn't forgotten Michelle pushing him away or the betrayal with the FBI incident anymore than Michelle forgetting that Danny slept with Drew or his life and hers with La Familia and the danger and illegitamacy surrounding it. It's just they love each other so deeply that being together means more to them than living without or losing the other one.
Have they said they've forgiven each other for those hurtful times?? Not that I can remember, BUT these two spoke more by their actions than they ever did with their words. They've hurt each other and have admitted it. Yet, they've also been there for each other during troubling times. Danny has saved Michelle's life a number of times, while Michelle's presence in Danny's life has saved his very soul from making choices that could have lead him to a darker Danny that none of us have met......yet (though, we've been close). Believe me, Manny still has plenty of drama that will come their way during their next storm. One thing I'm still trying to understand is why no love scene? I've really been trying to understand why Manny hasn't been given even a passionate love scene onscreen, particularly when Rauch and company know how important and superhotthis couple is. I can't help but think if there is not some reason that the writers have been doing this intentionally. Do they want to wait for another time for Danny and Michelle to make love onscreen?
The more I think about this, I'm wondering if the writers are waiting for that sense of desperation and that feeling of possible separation or death around the corner to have Danny and Michelle on that bed, not in the woods or in any fantasy, but in the lighthouse or better yet in Manny's room in Casa Santos, where they would be kneeling, face to face, body to body, mouth ON mouth, tongues swirling in pure delight (okay, okay, I got a little carried away, but what they hey....LOL). As they stare at each other for what might be for them their last time, he undresses her as she undresses him. Danny lays Michelle down, all the while kissing her deeper and deeper, never coming up for air. There is no space between them, not at the beginning, during, or after. (Oh, my gosh, I'm starting to write a fan fic here, LOL!)
TPTB have to be aware of the incredible love scene these two could have regardless if it's brief. Should they be waiting for a moment of desperation, fear, angst of the unknown real world as opposed to the certainty in the comfort of their fantasy world, or rather the eye of the storm to make love for all to see?? Either scenario would work as long as it's done onscreen (hint, hint).
