At the Bauers', Abby tries to comfort Michelle. Meanwhile, back at the Santos house, Danny agrees to leave town after striking a deal with Carmen: In exchange for her staying out of Pilar's life, he'll work for an uncle in California.

Before he leaves Springfield, however, he runs into Michelle. Danny tells her they don't belong together, although maybe if it were a different time and place they could have made it work. Even though it kills Michelle to do so, she takes off her wedding ring and gives it back to Danny.

Danny gets into his car and leaves, but he doesn't get very far. Carmen realizes that the business ledger Danny is holding against her won't stand up in court. (He told her if she harms Michelle, he'll turn it over to the police.) From his car, Danny phones Carmen. When they say goodbye, Danny stays on the phone and Carmen doesn't realize she's hasn't hung up at her end. Danny overhears his mother putting a hit out on Michelle.

But it might not be Michelle's blood that Carmen will have on her hands. Danny turns the car around and races back, unaware disaster is right around the corner.
