"Danny Says 'So Long Springfield!'" -- 5/11/99

For months, Carmen has been trying her hardest to separate Danny and Michelle. This week, she finally figures out a way to do just that -- arranging for her son to move away. Even though Danny is dying to be with Michelle, he continues to push her further away because he knows that his lifestyle would constantly place her in danger.

Convinced that a few stiff drinks can provide temporary solace, Danny heads to Millennium to drown his sorrows. Carmen later arrives and offers the perfect solution to his problem. She suggests to her son that he should move out West and work with an uncle. Danny says he'll go under one condition: She must let Pilar lead her own life. Reluctantly, Carmen agrees.

Later, Danny is thrilled when Pilar takes a room in the boardinghouse. As Danny is helping her get settled, Pilar realizes that the reason he decided to move away was to save her from Carmen's clutches. When Pilar questions Danny about his relationship with Michelle, he becomes defensive and tells his sister that he and Michelle have no future together.

Not convinced, Pilar is determined to play matchmaker. She runs into Michelle at Company and tells her to go upstairs to her new room and say hello to Bill.

As Michelle enters Pilar's room, she is stunned to find Danny there. Realizing that he was set up, Danny says that his sister's actions were misguided. He tells Michelle that he's leaving town. If it had been another time, he says, maybe things could be different. Her heart breaking, Michelle gives Danny her wedding ring and says goodbye.

Meanwhile, knowing that Danny no longer can protect Michelle, Carmen orders the girl's death. Will Danny and Michelle profess their feelings for one another before it's too late?
