Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Santos The Rustle of the Sheets . . .
Essay #200
"Commitment

By GrannyC

To me, our conception of the commitment that Danny and Michelle have to one another has to do with the way their characters have been developed. Danny is the intense, passionate one. Michelle seems to be the more understated of the two at this point. Danny's commitment seems more apparent to us because of his character development.

To me Michelle's commitment to him is as strong as his is to her, it just seems different because of character portrayal. I do, nonetheless, think many of us are anxious to see Michelle's commitment portrayed as we have seen Danny's time and time again. For me, standing up to Rick, staying with Danny after the bombing, and living in the same house with Carmen are good examples showing Michelle's commitment to Danny. Maybe another difference is that we have seen Danny's commitment to her since the docks.

Probably another reason I feel this way is my own personal situation. My ex was the intense one and I was the understated one. Yet, I was definitely the more committed of the two of us. It took a preacher's wife and secretary for me to figure this out. Yes, Danny's actions have proved commitment. But, in her way, I believe that Michelle's have, too.
