"Carmen's Real Fear Concerning Michelle"

By Erica

A poster noted ... Michelle knows that Danny will give her anything she wants, just to make her happy. And this is also something that Carmen has known all along too. Erica wrote wonderful commentary on that reality.

Of course, there will always be the fact that Michelle killed Mick, but I think Carmen is more concerned about the fact that Michelle is so important to Danny. I really think that they've proven that they are the center of one another's lives, no question. I think Carmen is scared and threatened by the fact that she is no longer first in Danny's life. Before Michelle, it was all for La Familia. Now that Danny's met Michelle, she's first (as it should be in a marriage) in Danny's heart.

I haven't had much time to rewatch tapes, but I remember Carmen trying to bargain Michelle out of Danny's life. She said that if Michelle just left Danny alone, she'd let her live. I think Carmen has realized that more important than revenge is breaking Manny's connection. I think she may have realized that killing Michelle would probably break Danny and that wouldn't do her any good. It would also push him further away from Carmen. She needs to destroy his faith and loyalty to Michelle. I think that when Manny gets back to Springfield Carmen is going to try and set Michelle to betray Danny.

I think Manny have pretty much proved that they are equals in the relationship. They are both trying to compromise and accomodate one another in their lives. Michelle is trying to make amends to his family and I could have sworn that Danny was going to leave the family business.

Finally, I think that Carmen knows just how strong their bond is because she commented to Ben that she felt love like that for Danny's father and it scared her to see it in Manny. I always think that it would be great to hear how Carmen became head of the family. There's been speculation that Carmen became involved to avenge her husband and to fulfill HIS dreams for the Santos family. I assume that means staying a crime family. If it was love for him that prompted her to take over the familY (not that she doesn't love the power, but that probably came later) then I think she realizes how strong Michelle's legitimizing influence over Danny could be. Of course, if Danny gets his way and they "go legit" that destroy's Danny's dad's dream. Does that make sense? It's like the battle of true love.
