"Manny's Paradise"
(The 'Laurel Falls' Consummation)

By Airpoet

The more I look at July 5th, Monday's episode, the more I find myself truly enjoying it. I know that my initial reaction was of shock at not seeing what I expected to see (possibly due to the usual physicality, sexuality, and intensity of soaps, primetime shows, and movies these days, or maybe due to the hype, or maybe even both). However, as I lay watching Danny and Michelle in an almost paradise setting of nature with its pure essense, I found myself loving this couple more and more. This is why.

Danny and Michelle, usually in the midst of constant turmoil surrounding them, found this first moment of time to be in heaven. The joy in their faces and the tenderness of their touches and kisses were heartwarming, and to tell the truth, aspiring. Their happiness (something they hardly experience because of the nature of everything surrounding them) was in full force yesterday. Manny's paradise was about enjoying the "here and now" and not the past or the future as Michelle alluded to, because let's face it, "here and now" is all they and we truly have. To quote Michelle, "I want to live right here, with you, right now, loving every single moment that we have together."

Danny and Michelle were enjoying being in each other's arms. It's not to say that the intensity has vanished, because these complex characters haven't vanished. On the contrary, they are just slowly evolving to be the best that they can be, in the face of everything that will undoubtedly come their way. Hopefully, they will fight those things together.

As I watched Danny and Michelle smiling and holding each other, I found myself crying. I was realizing that I was witnessing two people so in love with each other that the mere thought of them being or living without the other one due to the possible death of the other would literally kill something in the other one. And, any sadness that falls on either of these two characters will literally break my heart, especially after witnessing the magnitude of their love.

I realized that yesterday's show was about the happiness and elation of real love and communication as opposed to just the physical sign of their love. It was making love in a different sense for this viewer, who just wasn't use to it on tv, yet was grateful to see something new and truly beautiful. If the big "C" had happened as some/most were lead to believe based on the combination of the press and our expectations, I would have been rewinding to watch Manny's physical signs probably moreso than I would have been on the afterglow of it.

I had to get over my initial reaction of what I expected in order for me to appreciate the beauty and purity of what I did see: Manny's paradise in that one moment in time.
